The Problem With Identifying With The Healing Journey
You do not have to be “healed” to make massive impact in the communities you want to serve. But, what you do need is a lot harder because it’s going to require you to show up for yourself in ways that are uncomfortable at first.
Trying to heal because you believe you need to be in a specific place in your life to be this dream version of yourself is only highlighting your low self-esteem.
Why is this a self esteem issue? Because someone who has high self esteem would say I know that I can find a way to align myself with this version of myself and they become curious about their potential. They do not say “I am not this version because something is wrong with me”.
Many people believe that being out of alignment with the version they wish to be means there is something wrong with them. When sometimes, you simply need to make a few mindset and lifestyle adjustments.
This usually comes down to choice. More often than not, people get sucked into the healing and self help sectors of life because “I am not that version, there must be something wrong with me”.
Self help and healing are great sectors to explore, but healing only highlights the programming you are not.
As you move through your healing journey, there comes an aha moment of “Oh this is about expression?!”. This moment comes when you’ve exhausted all of your healing options because you are no longer suffering and you’re left to ask “what now?”
This moment came to me after I was no longer suffering with spiraling anxiety, crippling depression, or my previous mother issues. I was left at the end of my “healing” journey feeling like I was stripped of my identity because I had identified with suffering for so long.
I then became curious about the idea of identity. If my personality was not actually linked to the sufferings of the past nor the journey to overcome these sufferings, then who am I?
I discovered the only way to truly understand who you are is to put yourself out there by actively exploring your expression through a process I call discovery. In discovery, you are simply experimenting with you.
During your discovery process, you are actively learning what you do and don’t like without judgement. The idea of healing is naturally going to come with this process because you will be triggered with feelings of shame and fear.
But if we identify with the healing journey, the healing process will have us hiding in our house because we cannot tolerate any discomfort. So any amount of growth makes us feel like something is wrong with us.
Instead, we are asked to lead with curiosity because there is nothing wrong with us. Fear and shame come with this human experience, but our ability to experience this does not mean that it’s personal. Sometimes it just is.
